Franks General Stores are all purpose residential and commercial merchandise stores carrying a wide selection of goods including: fresh produce, dry goods, home furnishings, appliances and household items, apparel, hardware and commercial supplies.

“Franks Story”

As most of our customers know Patty Dicker purchased the Bigland General Stores in Makkovik & Hopedale during the Winter of 2017, then Bigland Nain in the Fall of 2017. Patty decided at the time to keep the name “Bigland” for a while but knew she wanted to change it eventually. She brainstormed many possible names but only “one” came out on top.

Patty credits her father Frank Dicker for instilling hard work ethic, determination, and strong will into her everyday and business life. Frank has played a huge role in getting Patty to where she is today, and naming the stores after him is Patty’s way of honoring her Dad.

We would like to officially welcome you to Franks General Store. We proudly serve the people of Makkovik, Hopedale and Nain with great honor and pride. Thank you for supporting local Inuit owned business.

Fresh Produce

We love our fruits and vegetable in the north ! Fresh produce is flown in to the community on a regular basis. We keep a variety of fruits and vegetables, so you’ll be surprised by some of the unlikely items you’ll find.

Dairy Products

Dairy items are also flown in on a regular basis. We keep a selection of milks and milk products such as yogurts, sour cream, coffee cream. We also stock a good selection of eggs, margarine and many fresh products.

Hardware

At Franks you’ll find a good selection of hardware items, everything from home improvement to electrical and plumbing. We are a dealer for brands such as: General Electric appliances, Blaze King wood stoves, Milwaukee tools, Stihl chainsaws and accessories, and Shark Bite plumbing supplies.

Logistics

If you’re travelling to the community as a commercial contractor, contact us in advance as we carry several products that are not often readily available in the community and it can save you from having to have those items shipped in.
